How to Install Your Custom Cabinet Insert
Installing your custom insert is a simple way to update the look of your cabinet doors. The exact installation method depends on whether your insert will be back mounted or front mounted.
Before You Begin
Before installing your insert, make sure you have:
- Your custom insert
- The correct mounting method for your project (sold separately)
- A clean, dry cabinet door surface
- Your final approved measurements
If your insert will be back mounted, you will also need retainer clips.
If your insert will be front mounted over an existing cabinet door, you will need construction-grade tape.
Option 1: Back-Mounted Installation
Back-mounted inserts are installed from the back side of the cabinet door, where glass or a wood panel would normally sit.

Step 1: Check the Fit
Carefully place the insert behind the cabinet opening to make sure it fits properly.
Step 2: Position the Insert
Center the insert so the design looks even within the opening.
Step 3: Secure with Retainer Clips
Attach retainer clips around the insert to hold it in place. Space them evenly (usually at the 4 corners) and tighten them just enough to secure the insert without shifting it.
Step 4: Double-Check Placement
Make sure the insert sits flat and looks centered before finishing installation.
Option 2: Front-Mounted Installation
Front-mounted inserts are applied directly to the front of an existing cabinet door.

Step 1: Clean the Surface
Wipe down the cabinet door so the surface is clean, dry, and free of dust or grease.
Step 2: Apply Construction-Grade Tape
Place the tape on the back side of the insert where it will make good contact with the cabinet door.
Step 3: Position the Insert
Carefully line up the insert on the cabinet door before pressing it into place.
Step 4: Press Firmly
Press the insert firmly and evenly so the tape bonds securely to the surface.
Step 5: Let It Set
Allow the tape to set according to the manufacturer’s instructions before putting stress on the insert.
