How to Measure for Your Custom Cabinet Insert

Getting the right fit starts with a few simple measurements! Follow this quick guide to make sure your custom insert is sized correctly.
Step 1: Measure Your Cabinet Opening
Measure the width (left to right) and height (top to bottom) of the opening where your insert will go.
- Record your measurements in inches.
- Round to the nearest 1/8 inch.
- Double-check your measurements before continuing!
Step 2: Choose Your Mounting Style
Back-Mounted Inserts
For inserts installed behind the cabinet opening, subtract 1/8 inch from both the width and height of your measurements. This allows a little clearance for installation.
Front-Mounted Inserts

For inserts mounted to the front of the cabinet opening, use your full measurements. No subtraction is needed!
Step 3: Check Your Measurements
Here's a quick example using a cabinet opening measuring 12" wide × 18" tall:
| Mounting Style | Final Insert Size |
|---|---|
| Back-Mounted | 11 7/8" × 17 7/8" |
| Front-Mounted | 12" × 18" |
